1st Reflection

Hello everyone,

As now comes the reason why I am doing this blog.

My lecturer Madam Ng gives us a task to be done in this blog so we can express our thoughts and ideas and also allows our friends to read what we wrote. I think this is actually a good method for students to write it down what they have learned in class in this blog as a journal.

The first task my lecturer gave me is to do research on the school of thought. Which is the Cognitive school of thought, Behavioral school of thought and Humanistic school of thought? My lecturer told to identify two negative points and also two suggestion to overcome the negative points. It has to be based on the school of thought that we have presented in class. Mine is a Cognitive school of thought.

The cognitive of a school of thought is defined as learning that concerned with the acquisition of problem-solving abilities and with intelligence and conscious thought. It means solving a solution with matured ideas and intelligence. Also, cognitive uses methods such as students learning knowledge through touching and feeling. It will make the students think and analyze the knowledge.

Two negative points of a cognitive school of thought and to overcome the solution. The disadvantage of cognitive is that it involves very frequent assessment of the student's learning and retention since new experiences build directly upon previous ones. The teacher needs to be constantly evaluating the needs of the student and designing learning activities that address the evolving educational needs and stages of the student. This can become a challenge, entailing a great deal of time, effort and flexibility in adjusting lesson plans. To overcome this situation is to give time to teachers to organized their teaching material and also they should do student-centered learning so the students can do their own plan of getting information and studying. The second disadvantage is learning that is very structured, it may become difficult to adapt to changes in what has already been proceeded and learned. And to overcome it is to take each step slowly if the teacher knows that a particular student is slow in studies, they have to give them a special class where they can teach them to step by step. Each student is different in thinking and adapting knowledge so every teacher has to first understand their students first.

Thank you for reading.

Have a Good Day.
