Hello everyone,
This week has been such
a stressful week with a lot of assignment deadlines but thank god I have
submitted all my assignments. Now the only thing that makes me really stress and
nervous is that tomorrow I am having an event for an assignment and I am going
to perform. Hopefully I do my best tomorrow.
Now about today’s blog
topic is ‘Which mock teaching I feel is the best? Honestly I think everyone did
their utmost best during mock teaching and I congratulate everyone for their
hard work.
In my opinion, I think
Faiz mock teaching is the best because of his activity. He did multi-sensory learning and activity is each group will be given color paper to cut and shape it as a triangle,
parallelogram and trapezium. Each group will be given one shape and that group
has to do the shape using the paper-like 3D shape or using bottles or any other
material they can find at the class. And after creating the shape we must
measure the area and get the answer. For me, this activity was interesting as
we have to create the shape ourselves and calculate the area.
Also, he explains the
topic in detail using PowerPoint in the simplest form where first he asks us to
identify the shape and also he gave examples using the material in class to
identify the object. I think there is the best method for a teacher to make
their students understand the topic by allowing the students to experience the
shape in hand and calculate the area by themselves. By the end of the class, I have
learned how to calculate triangle, parallelogram and trapezium.
During my journey on pedagogy
class, I have learned a lot of information not only based on the subject but
also on how to do a blog, the first experience using Kahoot and brain rush. So many new knowledge
I have gained in these semesters and for sure I will use this method and activity
during my teaching adventure. Lastly, I would like to thank my lecturer Madam
Ng for supporting and guiding us throughout this subject. And not to forget my
friends who have been my pillar of support for this 3rd semester.

Hello, Sangeetha!
ReplyDeleteYes. I also think that Faiz's mock teaching is interesting. I really love reading your opinion and I shall make Faiz's activity as an example to teach certain topic in Mathematics subject regarding area and 3 Dimensional shape. What do you think? =D
Hi Irma,
DeleteYes i think its a good idea to use these method in teaching maths as you will be teaching maths in future, i advice you to use his method in your lesson plan.
Thank You
Hi Sangeetha,
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed Faiz's class especially when he asked us to make 3-D shape on triangle, trapezium and parallelogram. This real life experience let students who cannot visualize shapes in their mind understands shapes clearly. Let say if you are going to teach statisitics, what kind of activity you will let students understand about graphs through their hands?
Hi Irene,
Deletei would suggest to do graph using rules and ask the students to to x-axis and y-axis using paper and answer the question. They would need space to do that so i suggest 2 groups to do this activity as it needs a lot of help in cutting the paper.
Thank You.
Wonderful idea! Students can learn different things through hands on experience, compare to just sitting down and listen to theory taught throughout the lesson. I am glad to hear your opinion. Thank you.

ReplyDeleteDear Sangeetha,
ReplyDeleteI like Faiz's mock teaching too. I like how he gave hints when some of the groups were out of the ideas. I think this is the most important part to engage with students. Based on my experienced, as a student, I'm very frustrating to attend for some classes that the teacher just explained the task ( probably just read out the title from the books, exercise or slides ) and asked us to answer or solve the questions each and every class period while the teacher just sitting at there and wait for the answer from us. If a teacher is going to give some sorts of new topics to students which students do not have any ideas about it, I think teacher should guide them for example, giving hints, example or ideas and ensure they're in the right track during the discussion. I think Faiz did a good interaction with students which I'm impressed the most.
Thank you :)
Hi Yau,
DeleteI agree with your opinion, students need to visualize and experiment things to not be bored in class and be focus.
Thank You.
